Dreaming of the Caribbean Sun…

It has been over 2 months since we returned from our fabulous honeymoon. It was such an amazing time, what a honeymoon should be. We were treated like a king & queen in both Anguilla and St. Barth’s. Anguilla was a very wonderful, quiet, low key island with great food. But the accommodations in St. Barth’s was untouchable, hands down. We stayed at the amazing Guanahani Hotel. Once we arrived at the airport, we were greeted by a wonderful guy who took our luggage, gave us hot towels and cold water….mmm… We then checked into our own little “bungalow”.

I’d love to style our living room (or the room between the kitchen and garage) like this one below. White couches, white walls and bits of color. But I don’t think akaraff is going to go for the white couches. he may change his mind

The week was followed by a lot of sunning, frozen cocktails and fabulous food. We spent the majority of our time here:

We had a deck just like this, and the bonus was our own resident cat “bella”. She looked extremely pregnant, but took very good care of us.

The Lettered Cottage….. Swoon…..

Every morning I grab my coffee and sit down to go into blog la la land. I try to give myself 30minutes. But after finding this gem The Lettered Cottage, I couldn’t take my eyes off it. She has such style and gorgeous taste, and it is all budget conscious. Which is what I am loving right now, due to the buying a house syndrome of wallet draining. I can’t wait to look through her photos and get inspired for the little cape that we will be calling home at the end of August. Layla Palmer is extremely creative. Her design is affordable Pottery Barn with a lot of vintage and a touch of Glamour. Well done! Does she make house calls to the Northeast?

I can’t get enough of her guest bedroom. I want this for my master suite. And to think she got all the bedding on ebay….

maps, maps, maps…
I’ve always loved how a map looks in a frame hung at someone’s home. It always felt so personal, like this person has a true connection to the area in the map. My former roommate and good friend Mary has a map of her home town hung up w/all the resident’s names circa 1980. Its beautiful.

I’m excited that I was able to find a nautical map online of Anguilla & St. Barts together. Where the hubby and I recently honeymooned less than 2 months ago. (feel’s like forever ago). These rainy days that we’ve been having in the northeast really make me grateful that we had the chance to go somewhere tropical. And wanting to go back right this minute now more than ever ;) I’ll post pics of the fabulous accommodations we stayed in soon…

The Search For Fabric
I’ve been on the hunt for fabric to cover my teak dining room chairs for a while. I’ve picked up some remnants here and there, but I haven’t been able to commit. Now that we are moving into a new house (signed the p&s yesterday!!!), the dining room definitely needs a face lift, i.e. brass chandelier and sconces, beige everywhere.
I’m loving these fabrics from Calico Corners. And loving the price even more….
