Saturday with Dad
A few weekends ago I met Dad out in Stow, MA for lunch at this fabulous Spot, Nancy’s Airfield Cafe.

My dad is huge aviation buff. He had his license a while back and knows every plane inside and out. So it was ideal that we meet at this little gem of a spot in Stow for a light lunch. Most of their ingrediates are local - I had a wonderful mixed green salad w/goat cheese and topped w/salmon. And I couldn’t resist the rose wine list they had by the glass offering 7 different wines. Yum!

They have their own herb garden as you walk in the front door w/every possible herb.

The cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner - so if you are even remotely near Stow, you have to go.

New England Spring Flower Show

there is always an anxious cabin fever in the air at the beginning of March up in these parts. we’ve just endured 4 months of cold, wet weather with no sunlight insight and we are so close to the first buds on the trees that we can taste it. its also that time of year where we are quietly anticipating open day at Fenway (Go Sox!) (although i must say those Celtics are kickin’ but). in need of a little green, i headed over to the 137th annual New England Spring Flower show over at the Bay Side Expo Center.
i knew that this is exactly what the doctor order. there was flora as far as the eye can see and where o’ where to begin? throughout the floor were a number of installations, fantasy displays and award winning plants. one of our favorite installations was a display by the landscape architect Peter R. Sadeck. We could see it from across the room. Surrounded by bamboo sat a peaceful, stylish and serene sitting area amongst the moss, , and xxx. I had the pleasure of meating Peter as I sat in awe and asked if I could just spend the day there. Peter is a landscape architect with over 30 years of experience with landscape design and installation, complete garden restoration and installation of natural ponds and waterfalls.

between the outdoor urban terrace and lavish flower dresses, i are REALLY ready to get our hands dirty this spring. happy spring!

2nd annual fashion swap a success!
what fun can girls have when we put together clothes, shoes and sangria! my good friend maureen and i had our annual fashion swap last night at gargoyles. with three racks of clothes and so much fashion - they say someones junk is another treasure. what i loved is that all we did was laugh and try on each other’s clothes.
the Somerville Journal was there too and they wrote an article on us which you can see here. i picked up some awesome pieces. a super cool black flowing dress w/sparkles (who doesn’t love sparkles), a “hot” pair of boots that are 4 inches tall only to be worn to the restaurant and back. and also, a pair of black linen pants - to worn in the summer. i would say the best item was a black rabbit hair jacket that Megan brought - which was instantly grabbed up on the first go around.
it was so successful, everyone had fun and walked away with some great items. i love to see someone else be so happy about the items i brought. can’t wait till next year!

adventures in self-care

after fighting most of my life to not go to a chiropractor, i finally went. this morning. its weird. my father has gone most of my life, and many people i know go, but i never knew why. until recently…. my back had been hurting to the point that i didn’t know what else to do. i went to my doctor, i went to a massage therapist, i did the exercises they gave me, but it didn’t help. and finally, i went to see dr. dan
he explained to me how closely related all parts of the body were. i had know this for some time, but i actually got an education and now have a much more profound respect for chiropractors. the nerves of our body control everything! those nerves go through the spine and if your spine is out of wack, you could go down the road of disease and further problems with your body. that massive bone structure going from your base of your back to the top of your head is the mecca of your body. it wasn’t until i was standing there, staring at the xray of MY spine, ribs, and neck that i realized all the things going on inside me that i never take a moment to think of.
after some tough adjustments, cracking noises that made me nauseous and ice paks that i am applying now, i am excited to get my spine “back in shape”.
take care of yourself…
